I have been hearing about the Renaissance Festival for years, but have never gone until this year. My family and I were given the opportunity through USFamilyGuide to visit the Carolina Renaissance Festival. I am always looking for something new and different to do with the family, and this was certainly “different.”
Each week they have different events/themes. My family and I went last weekend, which was the time traveler’s weekend so my son got to take a picture in front of the DeLorean Time Machine replica from Back To The Future, which was right outside the entrance to the Festival.
Once inside the festival, there was no shortage of entertainment. So many people were adorned in renaissance garb I couldn’t tell sometimes who was working the fair and who had paid to visit. There were rides for the kids to get on, shops, juggling/balancing acts, pirates, princesses, food, and more.
My husband made sure he got his turkey leg and no festival is complete for me without my funnel cake (forgot to take a picture but it didn’t’ last long enough to take a picture.) I got it when we were leaving the festival, and it didn’t last more than 3 minutes since everyone was grabbing at it from my kids to my husband.
I think the favorite of the festival was the jousting. My son enjoyed it the most I think.
All in all it was a great family event. I wouldn’t mind going again next year.
